Documents stored in a portal  are accessible a number of ways on an Android device. Since portal documents are available through WebDAV, any Android smartphone or tablet running Android OS 4.x or newer can access documents through:

  • Mobile Web Portal Interface
  • WebDAV Clients (e.g. WebDAV Navigator)
  • Office Applications that support manual WebDAV configuration

Mobile Web Portal Interface
Accessing a portal URL through Chrome or another web browser on an Android device will load the tablet interface. On this interface, documents are available as links which trigger the device to download the file into the Downloads section on the device. The files can then be opened in whichever native application is used for its filetype.

WebDAV Clients
Like an FTP client, WebDAV clients are becoming popular for accessing web-hosted documents. A very efficient and cost-effective (free) client available to Android OS is WebDAV Navigator Lite. It is a simple file-browser type application that saves WebDAV server and credentials for quick and easy access. Files are viewable natively within the app and can also be downloaded to the device.

Office Applications
A highly-regarded application with Office-like functionality is Kingsoft Office, a multi-language version is also available. This application allows presets for adding a WebDAV address for easy read/write access of documents.
