You have comprehensive control over email management. Let's take a look at the various settings.

Preferences

In Preferences, you have control over settings such as:

Filters

Filters let you automatically sort incoming email into specified folders. You can create filters to send incoming mail to folders by the From field, To field, or the Subject. For more information, read Creating Email Filters

Whitelist & Blacklist

Whitelists and Blacklists let you specify email addresses or even entire email domains that you want to always allow delivery (Whitelist) or always move to spam automatically (Blacklist). As a convenience, you also have the option to import all of your contacts into your Whitelist.

Spam Settings

Your spam settings include a 10-step spam threshold for tolerance (1 is the strictest, 10 is the most lenient), SPAM signature databases, and Greylisting.

Using SPAM signature databases enables the checking of message signatures against external community-run spam databases of known spammers. Enable this setting if large volumes of spam are arriving in your Inbox.

Greylisting significantly reduces incoming spam by ensuring that any server trying to send an email adhere to Internet standards for retry provisions. Spammers rarely follow these rules making this is a very effective tool. Enable this setting is large volumes of spam are arriving in your Inbox. Fair warning, any email from a sender you've never received email from may have delayed delivery.

For more information, read Understanding Spam Settings and What is Greylisting?

Forwarding & Autoresponder

Mail Forwarding is a feature that lets you send all incoming email (bypassing your Inbox) or a copy of all incoming email to another email address.

Autoresponder is perfect for when you will be away from your computer for an extended period of time. When using Autoresponder, your incoming email will be delivered appropriately and senders will receive an automatic response of your choosing.

From Address

From Address is a unique feature that lets you send out of your account as another email address. For instance, let's say you need to email someone but do not wish to use your actual email address. You can create a "From Address" to send as. Your From Addresses will show up as options from the mail composer on the From field.
