Modify a Task

You can modify a task in any group within the Shared Tasks section. You can modify the name, description; start/due/finish dates and assign the tasks to any member of the group. You can also set the status of the task as complete or delete it.

Usage Guidelines

To modify a task, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Groups tab on the left navigation bar. To scroll down, click the arrow button.

  2. Click the Group Memberships icon. The Active Memberships page appears.

  3. Select the group in which you would like to modify a task. The Group homepage appears.

  4. Click the Shared Tasks button. The Shared Tasks page appears.

  5. In the Modify column of the task you want to modify, click the edit link.

  6. The Modify Task page appears.

  7. Change the information in the fields you want to modify. You can modify these fields:

Subject

Type the subject name for the task.

Notes

Type general information about the task or any other relevant information in this area.

Start Date

Assign a start date by choosing the month, day and year. If you don't want to assign a start date, you can check the box that says 'no start date'

Due Date

Assign a due date by choosing the month, day and year. If you don't want to assign a due date, you can check the box that says 'no due date'

Finish Date

Once the task is finished, you can set the finish date by choosing the month, day and year. If the task is an ongoing one with no finish date, then you can check the box that says 'no finish date'.

Status

This is a drop down field where you can select one of the following choices:

  • Not begun

  • In progress

  • Complete

  • Waiting on someone else

  • Suspended

Priority

You can set the priority for the project here. You can set it as:

  • High Priority (1)

  • Medium Priority (2)

  • Low Priority (3)

Completed

Select this check box to set the status of the task to 'finished' once it is complete.

Notify Assignees

Checking this option will generate and send an email to all the group members to whom the task has been assigned

Location

You can either create the task in the root folder or you can assign the task to one of the projects in the group using the location drop down.

Assignment

You can see two list boxes. One of the list boxes group users has a list of all the group members. You can assign the task to any/all of the members in the group by selecting them and pressing the >> button. This will move the users to the responsible users box. You can move users out of the responsible users box by selecting the user and pressing the << button. This will move the user(s) back into the group users list.
